Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) Approves Updated COVID-19 Vaccine Recommendation

CDC has adopted the ACIP recommendation that everyone ages six months and older get the updated COVID-19 vaccine. ACIP approved the recommendation during its September 12 meeting. The updated COVID-19 vaccine is effective against the most commonly circulating variants, including BA.2.86, which CDC is closely monitoring. CDC expects the updated COVID-19 vaccine will be available in the United States this week and will be widely available through health care providers and pharmacies.

Additionally, the ACIP will meet at 10 AM ET on Friday, September 22, to discuss maternal respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) recommendations. Visit CDC’s Respiratory Virus Updates webpage for the latest science and recommendations on this topic.
