Illinois EMS Regions 7 and 11 Healthcare Coalition Medical Response Surge Exercise (MRSE)
June 1, 2022
Your hospital is cordially invited to participate in a multi-region Medical Response Surge Exercise (MRSE). This year, we have created a collaborative opportunity for Illinois EMS Region 7 and Region 11 healthcare coalitions to jointly participate in this exercise opportunity.
The MRSE is an exercise developed and mandated by HHS/ASPR as a requirement for all healthcare coalitions. This exercise is a functional/command-based exercise. It is recommended that for this exercise you assemble at a minimum the following representatives: Operations Section Chief, Planning/Resource Officer, Liaison Officer, Bed Control (EMResource), and Emergency Department Liaison. This exercise will not require the physical movement of people, supplies, and staff – but will address all tasking in a discussion-based/command environment.
The following functions will be addressed:
*Implementation of decompression and surge procedures
*Patient triage and placement
We recommend that only one representative from each hospital (i.e., emergency manager/emergency preparedness contact) register for this exercise. Each hospital will be expected to work as a team during this exercise to address the tasking.
The scenario chosen for this exercise will be a mass casualty incident (MCI) at a large special event in Chicago.
More details are forthcoming as we move forward with development.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
