The American Hospital Association (AHA) is warning hospitals and health systems about a scam targeting pharmacists. Fraudsters are impersonating Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) agents or other government officials, claiming that pharmacists have violated laws and face license revocation or arrest unless they pay a fine via wire transfer. These imposters often have personal information about the pharmacists, using fake names and DEA badge numbers to appear legitimate. The DEA has confirmed that it does not contact individuals by phone to demand money or impose fines—official notices are made in person or by letter. If anyone receives such calls, they should report them to the FBI. For more information, refer to AHA’s news article.
