American Hospital Association: Protecting Health Care Workers and Communities from Violence

America’s hospitals and health systems strive to deliver quality care in the safest possible environment for patients and care teams, however, federal data shows that health care workers are five times more likely to experience workplace violence than workers overall. The American Hospital Association has partnered with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Behavioral Analysis Unit to develop a resource consisting of violence prevention strategies for mitigating targeted violence in health care settings. The webpage also offers American Hospital Association and FBI resources for hospitals and health systems to implement threat assessment and threat management principles or enhance their existing efforts.
