ASPR and the National Emerging Special Pathogens Training and Education Center (NETEC) Announce Second Round of National Special Pathogen System (NSPS) Level 2 Special Pathogen Treatment and Network Development (STAND) Awardees

When high-consequence infectious disease threats emerge, a strong and coordinated health care network can help protect patients, health care workers, and communities. On September 1, 2026, ASPR and NETEC announced the second round of recipients for the STAND Award. This round includes 21 new heath care facilities who will each receive up to $500,000 to strengthen infrastructure, workforce training, specialized equipment, and care protocols for patients with high-consequence infectious diseases.

With the addition of these 21 facilities to the 54 selected in the first funding round earlier this year, a total of 75 facilities nationwide are receiving NETEC STAND Awards. These centers will expand access to specialized care closer to local communities and help reduce pressure on regional Level 1 treatment centers. Awardees will also receive technical assistance, training, and evaluation support from NETEC and Level 1 treatment centers to help meet and maintain Level 2 readiness standards.
