ASPR Technical Resources, Assistance Center, and Information Exchange (TRACIE) Resource Spotlight: Utility Failures in Health Care Tip Sheet, Telecommunications

Health care facilities may experience interruptions to their information technology (IT), software applications, and telecommunications services for various reasons (e.g., hardware failures, network congestion, secondary effects of power outages, and damage to lines and cables, telephone poles, cellular towers, networks, switching centers, and communications satellites). Health care facility planners can use this tip sheet to help prepare for and respond to these outages. It is part of the ASPR TRACIE Utility Failures in Health Care Toolkit, which can help health care facility managers and emergency planners identify issues to consider when planning for and responding to various types of utility failures.
