CDC COVID-19 Response Transitions to NCIRD

On June 28, CDC’s COVID-19 response transitioned to the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), which will lead the agency’s efforts moving forward. This transition represents an important milestone that follows the expiration of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency on May 11.

Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Viruses Division (CORVD), a new division within NCIRD, will work alongside NCIRD’s Immunization Services Division (ISD) to integrate CDC’s COVID-19 emergency response activities into sustainable programs and practices with a focus on pan-respiratory surveillance and prevention.
