Each year, 30 million children seek emergency care across the country. More than 80% of them visit community-based hospitals, and less than 20% seek care at pediatric hospitals.
Every child at every hospital should receive appropriate care based on their needs. Data shows more than 50% of hospitals disaster preparedness plans lack the health care needs of children. In this webinar, the American Hospital Association convenes representatives from Region V for Kids, an Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response funded project, in which, Pediatric Disaster Center of Excellence hospitals, University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, and Corewell Health Children’s will share evidence-based practices and protocols emergency departments can implement to address the needs of children experiencing the impact of disasters. The webinar will also highlight ways all hospitals can better equip their emergency departments to serve children daily.
