The Department of Family & Support Services (DFSS) will be coordinating the City’s Annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count of people experiencing homelessness on Thursday, January 26, 2023. Homeless shelters across the city will be conducting a count of all residents from 7-10pm. Outreach teams and volunteers will be canvassing select areas of the city from 10pm-3am to count and survey people experiencing unsheltered homelessness.
Teams participating in the Count will be wearing blue PIT Count lanyards with a volunteer badge. DFSS is also coordinating with CPD to provide special attention and police escort to a couple teams.
Salvation Army will be pausing shelter transportation from 6:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. to avoid double counting.
DFSS will be recruiting a limited group of volunteers who are fully vaccinated, comfortable performing outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness in small teams of 2-3 people during this count.
