The FBI issued a Public Service Announcement on June 18, 2026 warning the public about cyber criminals’ use of malicious traffic distribution systems to redirect internet users to fraudulent websites, phishing pages, malware downloads, and other financial scams. To help reduce risk, the FBI recommends that individuals verify website URLs before clicking advertisements, keep software and website components updated, use security tools such as web application firewalls, strengthen login security, and install plugins and themes only from reputable sources.
