National Emerging Special Pathogens Training and Education Center (NETEC): Mpox Update for Emergency Medical Services Personnel

Since January 1, 2023, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has reported 12,569 suspected mpox cases and 581 deaths, largely attributed to clade I. The current threat for clade I monkeypox virus (MPXV) in travelers to the U.S. is low, however, clinicians should be aware of the possibility of clade I MPXV in travelers who have been in DRC.
