As the U.S. prepares for large-scale international events like the FIFA World Cup in 2026, national readiness for high-consequence infectious disease (HCID) threats is more critical than ever. The Tranquil Passport exercise, led by ASPR, tested a coordinated national response to an HCID scenario and tested the new Portable Biocontainment Unit to simulate patient transfers to biocontainment facilities.
