On October 19, 2025, the World Health Organization announced that the last Ebola patient in the Democratic Republic of the Congo had been discharged, marking a major milestone in efforts to end the country’s 16th Ebola outbreak. The recovery begins a 42-day countdown to declaring the outbreak over if no new cases are confirmed.
