The Information Systems Audit and Control Association’s (ISACA) Research Reveals Key Tech and Cybersecurity Challenges Ahead in 2026

ISACA’s 2026 Tech Trends and Priorities Pulse Poll shows that digital trust professionals are increasingly concerned about Artificial intelligence (AI) driven risks as they look ahead to 2026. A majority of respondents report that AI driven cyber threats and deepfakes are their top worry, followed by the potential for severe damage from delayed breach response and insider threats or human error. Keeping up with the rapid pace of AI driven change is cited as the leading professional concern, while AI and machine learning, generative AI, cloud security, and data privacy are expected to have the greatest impact on work in the coming year. Despite AI’s prominence, only a small share of respondents say their organizations are very prepared to manage generative AI risks. AI driven social engineering is viewed as the most significant cyber threat, alongside ransomware, extortion, and insider threats. Regulatory compliance and business continuity are top organizational priorities, with most respondents viewing cyber related regulation as beneficial despite its complexity.
