About Douglas
Douglas Buchan currently serves as the System Director for Emergency Management, Communications, and Safety at Sinai Chicago. Douglas has over 15 years of experience in emergency medicine and disaster preparedness. As the System Director for Emergency Management, Communications, and Safety at Sinai Chicago, Douglas is responsible for safety in the physical environment, risk assessment, risk reduction, emergency communications, emergency response, and recovery for the four urban hospitals that make up the health system. Douglas is a Registered Nurse, Certified Emergency Nurse, and National Registry EMT. Douglas has been active in emergency medicine since 2006 and has been a member of the State of Illinois’ Medical Emergency Response Team since 2008. During that time he has instructed courses in hazardous materials response, tactical medicine, incident command, pediatric disaster response, and more. Douglas sits on the Responder Safety and Health Committee and Chairs the Information Sharing Committee within the Chicago Healthcare System Coalition for Preparedness and Response.
